Tudorcolor XLX 200 - my first roll on Canon AE-1

I have been neglecting my film cameras and I feel back about it. I want to take pictures so bad but I have not been anywhere over the weekends. Since I started learning Korean language every Saturday afternoon, there's no chance to go anywhere. I was fortunate to have a weekend break last week and 2 weeks before and took the opportunity to snap some pics.

This is my first roll of Tudorcolor XLX 200 which my cousin bought for me from Hong Kong last year. And I almost forgot about this film until recently. I have too many films lying around.

Here are some of the shots I took from a fishing village in Sekinchan, Selangor Malaysia. Hope that you enjoy it.

All the above photos were taken by me on my Canon AE-1 SLR camera. No filter or adjustment via photoshop to it. This is the beauty of film photography. Au naturel~

Fujifilm Proplus II at Laman Pesona

I found out about this place called Laman Pesona from my husband's friend. He is a local Raub boy and discovered this place by chance. I looked it up online and like what I see. So I proceed to book for 2 Standard Chalets and asked my parents and brother to join us for the weekend.

Legworks by Mike

This place is super steep and requires some strong leg work for the climb back to the chalets. If you're too lazy to do so, you can always request for a ride from one of the two 4x4 vehicle that is provided by them.  Service runs from 8am - 12 am.

I love the serenity of this place and wanted to extend our stay but my brother need to get back to work today. The rest of us are on leave or retired.

The viewing deck - the only way up is by foot.

View from the top - downwards to the chalets

The peak of the resort.

It's very peaceful here with pleasing deco around the resort. I feel like lying on the grass and enjoying the sun.

Mini Zoo for the kids.

All the photos above was taken with a film camera. Canon AE-1 with Fujifilm Proplus II. I love the contrast on this film.

If you're keen to check out this place, here's the website.

I'm not paid to write about this but I like the place and wish to share it with you if you love nature.

Malacca with my Canon AE-1

Most of our short trips are impromptu, including this one. We've decided to check out the new boutique hotel Quayside Hotel by the Melaka River. We paid more than our usual hotel stay in Malacca for the sake of a balcony and the river view and the beautiful Casa del Rio.

I've missed the opportunity to snap some photos of popular landmarks in Malacca on my previous trip. (psst... actually I did load the film properly coz it's a new camera) And so, I insists on doing a photowalk around A Famosa (St Paul's Hill).

All photos below are taken with Canon AE-1 SLR with Efiniti UXi 200. This is my one and only roll of this film. I bought it through recommendation from Ms Gladys of Photocrafts, Kota Damansara. I like the resullts but have to be very careful with the weather. I guess it works better on a cloudy weather. Some of my photos look over exposed. I noticed that in darker lighting condition, the details are more defined and prominent.

This was taken at the foot of St Paul's Hill. Opposite of the Museum of Islam.

Part of the park with models of old transportation.

A pregnant looking tree spotted nearby.

A resting cat awaits its mate. Halfway downhill from St Paul's Hill.

I wish that I have a zoom lens.

A little bit of old and new.

Not too defined reversed bokeh.

This photo looked burnt and dreamlike. I guess it would work better with a Lomography X-Pro Chrome 100 film.

Praying hard that my friend can manage to get me 6 rolls from Singapore soon. Heard that it's a bargain there. I would really like to try more of this film in darker lighting condition and hopefully the results come out better.

This roll of film is also my fastest to finish and developed. This fun fact was pointed out by my husband. Who had to tagged along with me, climbed up the hill under the hot sun and wait until I'm done. Then drive me to the lab to get this developed. He fell asleep a couple of time and try to stay awake by playing Candy Crush.

*I really need to buy a wide angle lens soon
*The current 50mm lens is driving me nuts
*Limited space, I need bigger and wider space

Cameron Highlands with my Canon AE-1

We recently took a trip with 12 of our closest friends to Cameron Highlands for Merdeka. Not very patriotic, eh? We booked a bungalow on top of a hill of Tanah Rata called Jim Thompson Cottage. This was where Jim Thompson (the Thai silk tycoon menghilangkan diri while visiting friends there).

Just so you know, the place is not spooky at all. In fact, I love that the bungalow we booked was 93 years old. Full of history and have a fireplace installed in one of the room. Flora is abundant there.

Photos are taken with Canon AE-1 and Kodak Colorplus 200.

Sebatang pokok.

Plant arrangement.

A healthy looking one.

An almost dead one.
Some are over exposed but it still looks good in my opinion.

Photos are taken with Canon AE-1 and Agfa Vista Plus 400.

Taken on top of BOH Tea Plantation. I almost died climbing up the hill. Shows how unfit I was and still am.

This turned out worst that I imagined. I wanted this to be darker so that the sampahz can be seen. A dustbin is labeled and ready to be used and yet people still choose to throw the rubbish everywhere but the bin.

White orchid. The purist.

Yellow rose.

Morning glory. Almost got attacked by a nearby bee.

From Jim Thompson cottage before departure.

Bamboos under low lighting.

Stumbled upon a new place in Cameron Highlands.

Vines under low lighting. Get tangled in my web.

I prefer the colors of Agfa Vista Plus 400 compared to the Kodak Colorplus 200 as I feel that the former has less green undertones. Planning to try B&W next after I'm done with Fujifilm Superia 200.

My second vintage SLR : Canon AE-1

I would like to introduce my second vintage SLR via my blog. I bought this back in July as an early birthday present for myself. I named her Stella and almost forgot about it. I'm suffering from pre-Alzheimer's disease.

This baby is older than me for sure. But I did not buy the program version because it was not available for sale when I had the money. It was manufactured and sold back in 1976 - 1984. 35mm SLR that requires a 4LR44 6V battery to work.

All pimped out with motor drive and a big ass Canon flash. Courtesy of Koon Yik from Bang Bang Geng, Publika.  *For photo shoot purposes only*

Stella on her first trip with me to Malacca. And I had a pretty fucked up time coz I did not load the first roll of film properly. I am now very careful when loading the film.

Because of this, a lot of historical shots were missed and I kick myself everytime I think about it.
Instead, I simply shoot some random places to have a feel of how the photos will turn out. Here are some sample shots of the first roll.

This sour-ish plant has always been interesting to me. I never know its name and did not find out.

What's left of a plant at my parent's backyard.

 Waste and moss.

Backstreet boys.

Same same but not quite the same.

My sister the ever digital camera user.
