Tudorcolor XLX 200 - my first roll on Canon AE-1

I have been neglecting my film cameras and I feel back about it. I want to take pictures so bad but I have not been anywhere over the weekends. Since I started learning Korean language every Saturday afternoon, there's no chance to go anywhere. I was fortunate to have a weekend break last week and 2 weeks before and took the opportunity to snap some pics.

This is my first roll of Tudorcolor XLX 200 which my cousin bought for me from Hong Kong last year. And I almost forgot about this film until recently. I have too many films lying around.

Here are some of the shots I took from a fishing village in Sekinchan, Selangor Malaysia. Hope that you enjoy it.

All the above photos were taken by me on my Canon AE-1 SLR camera. No filter or adjustment via photoshop to it. This is the beauty of film photography. Au naturel~

Kodak Portra 160 on Olympus Mju II

This is my first trial with Kodak Portra 160 35mm film. I wasn't sure what ISO to set on my SLR so I chose my first roll on the friendly and handy Olympus Mju II. I quite like the outcome. I see blue tint. I like the colour blue because it's so neutral.

CHAIN ME, BABY.

DUALITY

THIS IS MY WTF LOOK...AN JUA ? BEH SAI AR?

PRIDE

I quite like this film now that I've tried 1 roll. Next round will either be on the Canon AE-1 or Yashica Minister III. Currently both cameras are loaded with film but nothing to expose.

I'll be visiting Ipoh and Penang next month so keep my fingers crossed that I'll go nuts there.

Malacca with my Canon AE-1

Most of our short trips are impromptu, including this one. We've decided to check out the new boutique hotel Quayside Hotel by the Melaka River. We paid more than our usual hotel stay in Malacca for the sake of a balcony and the river view and the beautiful Casa del Rio.

I've missed the opportunity to snap some photos of popular landmarks in Malacca on my previous trip. (psst... actually I did load the film properly coz it's a new camera) And so, I insists on doing a photowalk around A Famosa (St Paul's Hill).

All photos below are taken with Canon AE-1 SLR with Efiniti UXi 200. This is my one and only roll of this film. I bought it through recommendation from Ms Gladys of Photocrafts, Kota Damansara. I like the resullts but have to be very careful with the weather. I guess it works better on a cloudy weather. Some of my photos look over exposed. I noticed that in darker lighting condition, the details are more defined and prominent.

This was taken at the foot of St Paul's Hill. Opposite of the Museum of Islam.

Part of the park with models of old transportation.

A pregnant looking tree spotted nearby.

A resting cat awaits its mate. Halfway downhill from St Paul's Hill.

I wish that I have a zoom lens.

A little bit of old and new.

Not too defined reversed bokeh.

This photo looked burnt and dreamlike. I guess it would work better with a Lomography X-Pro Chrome 100 film.

Praying hard that my friend can manage to get me 6 rolls from Singapore soon. Heard that it's a bargain there. I would really like to try more of this film in darker lighting condition and hopefully the results come out better.

This roll of film is also my fastest to finish and developed. This fun fact was pointed out by my husband. Who had to tagged along with me, climbed up the hill under the hot sun and wait until I'm done. Then drive me to the lab to get this developed. He fell asleep a couple of time and try to stay awake by playing Candy Crush.

*I really need to buy a wide angle lens soon
*The current 50mm lens is driving me nuts
*Limited space, I need bigger and wider space

My experience with La Sardina The Guvnor

The La Sardina was a gift, to read more click here. And I did a lot of reading and stuff about it before putting in my first roll of film. I enjoy the process of research before doing it or else I'll regret it big time when nothing comes out. And I'll just give up on it. In order to prevent myself from doing that, I study. Sounds like a lot of work for a toy camera but I love it so shut up and keep your thoughts to yourself.

I came across a few blogs and most of them said that their first 2 rolls came out blank. I was worried and had to make sure that I got it right or else I'll cry. Mine came out with images BUT it's SIGH. Maybe I put too much expectations on it.

Here are some images from the first roll and the bad thing is I can't remember what film I use. Double fuck!

Starbucks at night with Fritz the Blitz (flash).

Random shot of recycling bins. Outdoor evening shot with cloudy sky.

Also taken with Fritz the Blitz.

Double exposure. One day, one night.

Taken indoor with yellow lighting and Fritz the Blitz.

By the end of the roll, the photos are shit and I've put it in Bulb mode (without realizing it) for daytime shooting. Slap myself silly!

I will still try the La Sardina and this time be very careful with every shot.

Olympus Mµ II

I'm back with something to blog about. I've recently acquired a pre-loved unit of Olympus Mµ II from  my client. (No, I'm not a camera seller just an amateur collector) I remember that my high school friend used to own a unit and was so jealous coz the camera was so sleek  and its subtle gold colour is beautiful like a glass of bubbly.
This beautiful baby is also known as Stylus Epic in the US of A. It was an award winning 35mm compact point and shoot back in 1997. I will not go in depth about the specs because it's boring. All I know is that this is a very reliable and light film camera to bring around. The photos are crystal clear and easy to use.

I test a roll of Fujifilm Superia X-tra 400 35mm film (24 exposures) on this baby. And I love the results. If you were wondering where I got the 24 exposures film, I bought it from Amazon. Malaysia only have the 36 exposures type of film.

See the clear details on Doraemon ? This was taken indoor with flash with another hour or so of sunlight.

PJ Live Arts - with flash around 8-ish in the evening. I feel that red tend to 'pop' in Fujifilm Superia range be it 200 or 400 ISO.

Interior of Publika without flash around 5pm. Soft hues and reverse bokeh. I love this shot among all of it from this roll.

Shot without flash indoor of Nando's Sungai Wang. I was expecting blank from this shot but am truly surprised with the result.

Happy couple - shot at Fatty Crab Restaurant PJ around 6pm without flash.

Same as above. Shot without flash around 6pm. Even the chairs in the background are crystal clear.

++Can't wait to shoot slide on this camera. I'm very very happy with my new toy++

I heart Lomography Tungsten 64 ISO film

It's sad that Lomography had discontinued this beautiful film. Although it's meant to have a greyish hue, but it turns out purplish and I love it! I still have 2 rolls of this film and will save it for something else in the future. This is my first experimental roll with the Diana Mini. And it was taken way back last year, I didn't have time to finish the roll.

This is my favourite pic of this roll. Was taken at Urbanscapes 2012.

Loungers resting and chatting by their boat docked at Straits Quay, Penang.

Love the in your face colours of this one. Taken somewhere in Penang. Old heritage building.

Famous drinking hole in Jonker Street, Malacca. Geographer is the place to be for beers and music.

My next experiment would be on the La Sardina The Guvnor. But for now, I will just load a cheap ass normal 35mm film to test. And I can't wait for Lomo Purple 400Iso to arrive in Malaysia. I heart purple shades.
